When I was a SMA student hard in the hope, I could continue my study in the state university. Day and night I spent my time reading a dozen of books. To my surprise, the tuition fee for studying in the state university now is rising highly. Today the tuition fee in the state university and private university is not much different. They always make excuse when people questioning about the high price of education in the state university. They said, it was the result of campus autonomy policy. Government does not give aid to the state university anymore. For this, government also makes excuse that the found will be used by another department.liffe,
I regret why I was born in a working class family so that I cannot afford to pay the tuition fee in the state university. But it was in vain. My sweet young dream has broken into thousand of pieces, formerly, in new order era when my brother studied in the state university, the tuition fee is not as much as today reformation era which firstly was aimed at a better life, in fact, we got a bitter life.
Sitting alone in the corner of my room, I’m thinking in new order era, student parents’ comment on their children’s eager to continue their study to university is like this: “ What will you be. However high your education is, you’ll remain the daughter of pak Bedjo, a working class family living in a rural area. Your father is a peasant. He has neither connection nor money to pay bribe. You know, to be civil government you need to pay a high priced bribe. It’s better for you to go abroad as tkw as soon as after graduate from senior High school,”
In reformation era, student parents’ comment is that:” you needn’t to continue your study to senior high schooly want to enter the state senior high school that you like, you need to pay bribe. It’s better for you to get a job or marriage soon after you graduated from junior high school,”
People make the ancient Javanese proverb “ jer Basuki mawa beya” to legitimate their action. They consider that to be clever, a student needs to pay much money without looking at the student family background. Of course, student’s parents can do nothing and take it for granted the government policy. Education has become a thing for sale. In this way, a stupid student can gain a sarjana degree by paying money to the institution wait the doomsday, if this condition goes on. Never blame them if one day, those who clever but have no money to continue their study to a higher level will rock and roll the government. A real patriotic person is a person who dares to commit war against the oppression of their own government. One who voluntarily will do anything for the sake of people. I lm here only represent hundred of thousands poor people, working class family, the grass root, and proletarians who have many words but unutterable.
